Hi, I’m Jan Scott, a writer, cookbook author, former blogger, and soon-to-be independent bookstore owner. I was the food editor for The SavvyMom Group from 2011 - 2020, and have had essays and articles published in The Toronto Star, Canadian Family (R.I.P) and What’s Up: Canada’s Family Magazine (R.I.P).
In 2014, I co-authored the cookbook Gatherings, which was nominated for a Taste Canada award in the Best General Cookbook category in 2015.
I’m also the Globe and Mail Bestselling author of Oven to Table, GOLD winner of the 2020 Taste Canada awards in the Best Single Subject Cookbook category.
Prior to making the transition to food writing, I worked for a private catering company.
After almost 25 years in Toronto, my husband, Rob and I purchased a 125-year-old heritage home in a town that’s 1/100th the size of where we come from. We traded in traffic for tranquility when we relocated our family (which includes three sons and our beloved bullmastiff) to a small town in Southwestern Ontario.
In my (limited) free time, I’m trying to write my first novel.
